What is the Digital Product Passport (DPP)?
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital data set about a product: origin, material composition, environmental indicators and further information across its entire life cycle. Its legal basis is the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781).
The concrete requirements — which data fields are mandatory, from when and for which product groups — are set out through delegated acts and are being introduced step by step.
For construction products, the DPP touches adjacent instruments:
- the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration per EN 15804) as a possible data source,
- the declaration of performance and CE marking under the CPR (Regulation (EU) No 305/2011).
The DPP bundles such data but does not replace the individual proofs.
Placeholder scaffold: concrete obligations and deadlines follow from the delegated acts and are not yet reflected here.
